When people ask me where Ultimate Nutrition began, they often expect me to talk about our products. But the truth is, it all started with one man's passion for helping people become healthier, stronger and fitter.
That man was my husband, Arthur Fairhurst.
Long before health supplements became part of everyday life, Arthur believed that good nutrition was just as important as good training. He was fascinated by how the body worked and dedicated countless hours to studying nutrition, exercise and performance. His aim was never simply to build bigger muscles—it was to help people achieve better health through proper nutrition. That passion led him to write...
Ultimate Nutrition for All Sport.
The book quickly found an audience. At a time when reliable nutritional information was difficult to find, Arthur explained complex subjects in a way that ordinary people could understand and put into practice. Over the years, it reached readers across the world, with more than 1.5 million copies finding their way into the hands of athletes, fitness enthusiasts and everyday people who simply wanted to improve their health.
The success of the book inspired something much bigger.
People wanted the nutritional products Arthur was recommending. They trusted his knowledge and wanted supplements that reflected the same standards he believed in. That demand became the foundation of Ultimate Nutrition, which formally became a company in 1978.
What started as one man's vision eventually grew into a thriving British manufacturing business employing 43 members of staff. Every product was developed with one simple philosophy that Arthur repeated time and again:
"The products must work."
There was never any interest in following fashions or making extravagant claims. Quality ingredients, sensible formulations and honest advice were always far more important than clever marketing. Although the business has changed over the years, that philosophy remains exactly the same today.
I was privileged to work alongside Arthur for many years, both in business and in life. Together we helped thousands upon thousands of customers, many of whom have stayed with us for decades. Even today, I still receive messages from people who remember reading his book or using products that he developed.
After nearly fifty years in the supplement industry, I continue to run Ultimate Nutrition with the same values Arthur established all those years ago. Our customers are no longer just athletes; many are people who simply want to stay active, maintain their independence, support healthy ageing and enjoy a better quality of life.
Science has advanced enormously since Arthur first put pen to paper, but one thing has never changed. Good nutrition remains one of the most important investments we can make in our long-term health. Over the years, as advancements in nutrition were made, the book Ultimate Nutrition for All Sports was kept up-to-date by being revised, to the current edition.
Arthur believed that knowledge should empower people to take control of their wellbeing. His book was written with that purpose, and that same purpose continues to guide everything we do at Ultimate Nutrition today.
His legacy lives on—not only in the book he wrote, but in every customer we continue to help.
And I know he would be immensely proud that, all these years later, his vision is still making a difference.
Thank you for reading.
